Climate change, not human hunting, killed the woolly mammoth at the end of the last ice age, a new study finds. Relatively rapid-fire changes reduced vegetation to a level unable to sustain the double-decker-bus-sized creatures, and the speed of the switch left them no time to adapt as they had in weathering previous ice ages - a lesson for modern-day attempts to stop destroying our environment.
